On September 18th, the first China South Asia Young Leaders Exchange Delegation visited the college and started a three-day exchange program. 23 representatives of young leaders from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives and 10 representatives of young students from our college participated in the program. This event was organized during the 5th China-South Asia Friendship Organizations’ Forum held in Chengdu. It is a new project jointly initiated by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the South Asia Friendship and Cooperation Organizations in China. With the theme of gathering the wisdom and enjoying the youth, the program aims to pool the wisdom of the young in China and South Asia, provide them with multiple employment solutions, and enhance the mutual understanding and friendship at the same time.
At the welcoming ceremony, Chunmo Li , secretary of the party committee of the college, said that this program was the beginning of the cooperation between the college and South Asia, and the exchanges and cooperations between the college and the “Belt and Road” countries will be further deepened in the future. He hoped that the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries will continue to pay attention to the construction and development of the college, further strengthen guidance, and support the college to carry out in-depth cooperations with more foreign universities, educational and medical institutions, etc. He also hoped that all young leaders will strengthen communication and learn from each other, so that the seeds of friendship can take root and germinate, and further consolidate the public opinion foundation of friendship between China and South Asia.
President Jing Shi introduced the basic situation of the college, saying that the college has always attached great importance to and been committed to improving international exchanges and cooperations capabilities and expanding the level of education opening to the outside world. She made clear that South Asian young people were welcome to study in the college, and the college would provide more high-quality educational resources, to create a good international education brand of the college.
“This event is held for the first time, and it is also the first time that the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries has cooperated with Ya’an Polytechnic College,” said Qionghua Xiang, secretary-general of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. She hoped all the participants could learn together and gain experience during the three-day program, and the characteristics, highlights, and substantial effects of the program could be shown, so that this program could be a successful reference for holding the exchange activities of young leaders in China and South Asia again and building a platform for other exchanges of the young in China and South Asia. Another wish of hers was that the boat of friendship of the young in China and South Asian countrie could set sail here, and they could become the participants and promoters of developing friendly relations between China and South Asia, jointly promoting further exchanges and cooperations between China and South Asia, and contributing to the construction of a community with a shared future for China and South Asia.
Peng Zhang, director of the Asia-Africa Department of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Ping Yin, director of the Cultural Exchange Department of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and some relevant cadres of the college attended the welcoming ceremony.
On that day, the college organized some activities for the China South Asia Young Leaders Exchange Delegation, including visiting Qingnian Road Campus and the training rooms of the School of Nursing and the School of Education, participating in an ice-breaking development, and experiencing nursing first aid, and acupuncture and massage.
Undertaking the first China South Asia Young Leaders Exchange Program is the embodiment for the college to give full play to its professional advantages, firmly seize the opportunity of constructing the provincial-level high-quality higher vocational college and the “double first-class” college, actively integrate into the “Belt and Road” construction, and actively connect with the provincial party committee’s “southward-oriented” strategic layout to continuously improve the level of international exchanges and cooperation of the college. During the period, the exchange activities mainly include ice-breaking development, employment and entrepreneurship theme seminars, mock employment interviews, lectures on traditional Chinese culture, learning of Chinese songs, experience of traditional Chinese cultural skills, student cultural exchange meetings, sports competitions, etc.
