On October 23, the Sri Lankan delegation entered the college for cultural exchanges, and held a one-day China-Sri Lanka handicraft exhibition, intangible cultural heritage exhibition, food and snack tasting, dance performances and other activities. Accompanied by Xiang Qionghua, Secretary General of Sichuan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a total of 37 foreign guests from Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation Association and Sri Lanka Presidential Girls' School attended the event.
This event is a new event co-hosted by the Sichuan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation Association during the Sri Lanka Cultural Week held in Chengdu. The foundation of non-governmental friendship between Sichuan and Sri Lanka promotes exchanges between the local government of Sri Lanka and the local government of our province and relevant schools and deepens the multi-level and wide-ranging pragmatic cooperation between Sichuan and Sri Lanka.
Indrananda Abeysekara, President of Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation Association, and his delegation highly praised the intangible cultural heritage works of Chinese calligraphy and painting, paper-cutting and black sand pottery displayed by our institute and communicated cordially with teachers and students. The delegation also showed the teachers and students the traditional crafts and culture such as wood carving products, traditional costumes and puppet shows. A piece of dead wood is turned into magic in the hands of the producer, and the vivid shapes make teachers and students enjoy a visual feast.
At the Sri Lanka-China Food Culture Exchange and Tasting Conference, the Chinese food sculptures such as "Dragon Travels the World" and "Affectionate Embrace" displayed by our college garden hotel left a deep impression for the Sri Lankan delegation and won rounds of applause. In her speech, President Shi Jing expressed her warm welcome to the Sri Lankan delegation from afar, she thanked the Sichuan Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and affirmed the study of six international students from Sri Lanka in the school. Many Sri Lankan youths can come to the college to communicate and study.
In the Sri Lanka-China tea culture exchange activity, the "Eighteen Styles of Dragon's Walk" tea skills and tea art performances performed by our students were warmly welcomed and praised by the Sri Lankan delegation. Afterwards, in the Sri Lanka-China dance cultural exchange, teachers and students from the two countries took the stage to perform dance performances, both of which expressed that they have gained a lot.
During the event, Fan Xianmao, member of the party committee and vice president of our school, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Indranande Abesekela, president of the Sri Lanka-China Association for Social and Cultural Cooperation to carry out teacher-student exchanges, international student exchanges, and exchange of educational resources. Hongliu, President of Sichuan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Song Kaihui, Member of the Standing Committee of Ya'an Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Mayor, Li Chunmo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ya’an Polytechnic College, and Shi Jing, President of the Ya’an Polytechnic College attended the meeting and witnessed it together.
Hosting cultural exchange activities in Sri Lanka is a way for the college to give full play to its professional advantages, firmly seize the opportunity of provincial-level high-quality vocational colleges and the construction of "Double First-Class", actively integrate into the "Belt and Road" construction, and actively connect with the provincial party committee's "prominent southward" strategic layout , and continuously improve the level of international exchanges and cooperation of the college.
